1) Quando e porquê que começaste o blogue? When and why did you start to blog?

Comecei o blogue o ano passado, em Julho, simplesmente por adoro moda! Originalmente comecei em 2009, mas não o atualizava. Até que decidi agarrar o touro pelos cornos, acho que tinha receio das criticas mas agora não quero nem saber.

I started blogging last year, in July 2012, purely because I love fashion! I had originally started in 2009, but kept putting off. I just decided to bite the bullet, I guess I was afraid of criticism, but now I couldn’t care less.

2) O mundo da moda plus size está desenvolvido no teu país? Is the plus size fashion world development in your country?

No Reino Unido por acaso não temos muitas razões de queixa pois temos quer cadeias de lojas quer online grandes marcas como a Dorothy Perkins, New Look, Simply Be, Evans e claro a Asos. Ainda existe um longo caminho a percorrer no que toca a prolongar a linha de tamanhos nas lojas regulares mas creio que atualmente estamos na melhor fase que alguma vez estivemos.

We’re quite blessed in the UK to have such great high street and online stores such as Dorothy Perkins, New Look, Simply Be, Evans, and of course ASOS, there is a long way to go in terms of extending sizes in mainstream, (I’m look at you Topshop) but I believe it is the best it has ever been for plus size fashion.

3) Quais são os teus looks e estilos favoritos? What is favorite style and look?

Não tenho bem um estilo favorito. Depende da ocasião e de como me sinto mas no momento estou obcecada com saias, vestidos justos, maxi e minis.

I don’t really have a favourite. It all depends on the occassion and how I am feeling, but at the moment I am obsessing with skirts, bodycon, maxi or midi.

4) Quais são os teus cinco factores-chave para andar sempre bem? What your five key factors to always look good?

1) Tenham a certeza que se sentem confortáveis no que vestem, se não se sentirem então não estarão felizes.

2) Tenham a certeza que se adequa à vossa personalidade.

3) Acessórios! Quer seja um colar ou um cinto para completar o look!

4) O modo como arranjamos o cabelo é tão importante como a roupa!

5) Sejam audazes e experimentem mas tenham sempre em atenção o ponto 1.

1) Make sure you are comfortable in what you are wearing, if you are not comfortable, then you won’t be happy
2) Make sure it suits your personality
3) Accessorise! Whether it be a statement necklace or belt to finish off an outfit!
4) How you style your hair is just as important as the outfit!
5) Be willing to experiment, but always remember point 1.

5) O que desejas para o futuro? What do you wish for the future?

Que a moda esteja acessível para toda a gente. Não importa o tamanho, altura ou forma. Todos merecem estar fantásticos!

For fashion to be available for everybody. No matter what size, height or shape. Everybody deserves to look good!

My guest today is the gorgeous Gemma, or Pinkgemma as she likes to be called, and she is the lady behing the Pingemma Plus blog.

1) Quando e porquê que começaste o blogue? When and why did you start to blog?

Comecei o blogue em Novembro, depois de anos a admirar os blogues de moda plus size de outras pessoas. Deram-me tanta confiança e quero fazer o mesmo para outras pessoas.

I started blogging in November, after years of admiring other peoples fatshion blogs. They give me such confidence, so I just want to do the same for other people.

2) O mundo da moda plus size está desenvolvido no teu país? Is the plus size fashion world development in your country?

Temos a sorte de no Reino Unido ter imensas marcas plus size mas ainda existe muito para ser feito. Em termos de comunidade, o mundo plus size está a fervilhar! Tive a sorte de conhecer pessoas maravilhosas devido ao blogue e estou muito contente por ter pessoas com quem me possa dar.

We are lucky here in the UK to have lots of great plus size retailers, but there is still so much to be done. In terms of community, the plus size community is thriving! I’ve been lucky enough to meet some great people through blogging recently, so I’m glad to have people nearby I can relate to.

3) Quais são os teus looks e estilos favoritos? What is favorite style and look?

Gosto de um leque de estilos muito variados desde ultra femininos, florais, até algo mais atrevido e profundo. Não sou grande fã de looks casuais para mim pois gosto de sentir que fiz um esforço sempre que me visto. A única coisa que procuro é sempre algo realmente forte. Não gosto de looks mais desleixados ou que tentam ser atrevidos mas que não chegam lá! Adoro as peças da coleção da Beth Ditto porque são inovadoras, vistosas e estão na moda.

I like a broad range of styles, from ultra feminine dresses and florals to more edgy, grungy, darker looks. I’m not overly fond of casual looks on me, as I like to feel like I’ve made an effort all the time. The only thing I look for really though  is something strong. I don’t like wishy washy outfits - or things that attempt to be daring, but don’t quite make it! I loved lots of things from the Beth Ditto ranges because they were so new, bold and out there.

4) Quais são os teus cinco factores-chave para andar sempre bem? What your five key factors to always look good?

- Continuar a experimentar novas formas e tendências, ainda não decidi se posso usar tecidos justos ou outros estilos. Poderás encontrar-te depois da experimentação.

- Ter tempo para tomar conta de mim. Sinto-me melhor depois de um banho, ter feito a manicure, ter tempo para relaxar ou qualquer coisa que me faça sentir bonita.

- Se pudesse escolher uma peça que tenha mudado o modo como me visto teria que ser os cintos. Encontrei a minha forma corporal desde que os comecei a usar. Não consigo viver sem eles.

- Em termos de maquilhagem, as minhas sobrancelhas são tão importantes. Experimentem e vejam como podem tirar melhor partido das vossas. As minhas são desenhadas mas fazem-me sentir confiante e esse é o objectivo do jogo.

- Usem e escolham coisas que gostem mesmo, que sintam e fiquem maravilhosas.

- Keep tyring new shapes and trends, don’t just decide “I can’t wear bodycons” or other styles. You might find you can after all.
- Take time to look after yourself. I feel better after and bath and when I’ve done my nails, so make time to relax and do whatever makes you feel beautiful.
- If I had to choose one item that had changed how I dress it would have to be belts. I found my shape since I started wearing them. I couldn’t do without them now.
- In terms of make up, to me eye brows are soooo important. Play around and find out how you can make the best of yours. Mine are mostly drawn on, but they make me feel confident, and that’s the aim of the game.
- Wear and choose things you genuinely love and you will feel and look great.

5) O que desejas para o futuro? What do you wish for the future?

Espero continuar feliz, saudável e satisfeita com o meu corpo. Esta é a chave para a liberdade. (Ah e espero que as mais roupas plus size sejam fantásticas!)

I hope I can stay happy, healthy and contented with my body. It’s the key to freedom. (oh, and more plus size clothes would be great!)

1) Quando e porquê que começaste o blogue? When and why did you start to blog?

Comecei o meu blogue acerca de um ano, mas mesmo a sério só nos últimos seis meses. Entrei mais ou menos aos trambulhões, pois andava à procura de um vestido para um casamento que fui e fiquei tão frustrada pois só encontrei modelos magras nos sites que não me davam uma imagem verdadeira sobre como um look me ficaria. Por isso fui ao google, coloquei "vestidos de casamento para mulheres gordas" e encontrei um blogue plus size - Mrs. Bebe.

Depois de ler e explorar outros blogues, apercebi-me que estava a perder o bom da vida pois não aceitava o meu corpo e não me apercebia que era linda. Comecei o blogue para mostrar esta minha caminhada mas com o passar do tempo ajudou-me a conhecer outras pessoas que estão a passar pelo mesmo que eu estava há algum tempo atrás.

I started my blog around about a year ago, but only started seriously blogging within the last six months or so.  I’ve kind of stumbled into blogging and the whole plus size blogger community, I was looking for a dress for a wedding I was attending a couple of years back and got so frustrated with slimmer models on websites that wouldn’t give me a true image of how an outfit would look on me.  So I simply googled ‘Fat woman dresses for a wedding’ and found a plus size blog – Mrs Bebe.
After exploring and reading other blogs out there, I realised I was missing out on life because I wasn’t coming to terms with my body and realising it was beautiful. I started my own blog to initially chart my own plus size journey, but over time it’s helped me meet other people who are going through both what I am now and what I was going through back then.

 

2) O mundo da moda plus size está desenvolvido no teu país? Is the plus size fashion world development in your country?

Creio que as marcas estão a começar a aperceber-se que precisam de se direcionar para o mercado plus size, é um enorme segmento de mercado (se desenharem e publicitarem de modo correto) poderão fornecer-lhes grandes oportunidades de negócio. Nós estamos preparadas para pagar um pouco mais pela qualidade desde que tenha estilo, siga uma tendência e nos faça sentir fabulosas.

I think that brands are starting to realize that they need to address the plus size market, it’s a huge target market and (If designed and marketed properly) provides them with massive business potential.  We’re prepared to pay a little more for quality, as long as it’s stylish, on trend and makes us feel fabulous.

3) Quais são os teus looks e estilos favoritos? What is favorite style and look?

Tenho um estilo simples e feminino. Gosto de colocar um vestido, uns saltos e arranjar o cabelo quando saio para beber um copo - adoro sentir-me feminina. Ando louca pela tendência Azteca, adoro como este padrão pode ser tão versátil nos diferentes tipos de corpo.

I have quite a simple, feminine style.  I like to put a dress on, wear heels and puff up my hair when going out for drinks – I like to feel ‘womanly’.  I’m mad on the Aztec trend at the moment, I love how the print is so versatile to different body shapes!

4) Quais são os teus cinco factores-chave para andar sempre bem? What your five key factors to always look good?

- Uma cara feliz - um sorriso pode iluminar um dia de alguém, incluindo o nosso. Acho que se tivermos uma atitude feliz e um sorriso na cara, sentimo-nos automaticamente melhores connosco e com o mundo à nossa volta!

- Rimel - Nunca saio de casa sem a minha mascara de pestanas favoritas, Mac Zoomlash. Sou bastante sortuda pois tenho pestanas bastante longas, por isso se não tiver tempo para me maquiar de manhã antes de ir trabalhar (o que acontece frequentemente pois adoro demasiado a minha cama) então torno os meus olhos o ponto fulcral. Faz-me sentir humana.

- Comer 5 vezes ao dia - Estou numa de me tornar saudável e notei uma grande melhoria no meu cabelo, unhas e pele apenas por comer as minhas cinco peças de fruta e vegetais por dia. Parece algo tonto mas nunca pensei que fizesse tanta diferença e comecei a ver isto como parte da dieta mas agora vejo-o como parte da minha rotina de beleza diária.

- Às vezes, precisamos daquele vestido - Sou muito crente que por vezes uma rapariga precisa de comprar algo que a faça sentir fabulosa. Costumava comprar coisas que "devia usar" em vários tons de preto para me misturar com a multidão sem ser notada. Mas agora vejo cores vibrantes e vestidos de renda que me fazem sentir fabulosa na minha pele e sinto-me como uma deusa... mesmo que os use na minha casa!

- Banhoca - Tirar algumas horas por semana para nos deliciarmos numa banheira com água quente e bolhinhas para nos esquecermos do mundo lá fora e das preocupações. Adoro os meus banhos, são o meu lugar privado onde não tenho que responder a ninguém e deixar apenas passar o tempo. Adoro ter montes de velas acesas, música e uma garrafa de vinho.

Dá-me tempo para relaxar e destressar!

 

- A Happy Face – A smile can lighten up someone’s day, including your own. I find that if you have a happy attitude and a smile on your face then you instantly feel better about yourself and the world around you!

- Mascara – I never leave the house without my favourite mascara on, Mac Zoomlash.  I’m quite lucky in that I have long eyelashes, so if I don’t have the time to do a full face of make up in the morning before work (which is very often, I like my bed too much!) then I make my eyes a focal point for the day.  It makes me feel human.

- Eating 5 a day – I’m on a real health kick at the moment and I’ve noticed such an improvement in my hair, nails and skin just by eating my 5 fruit and veg a day.  It sounds silly, but I never really thought it would make a difference and saw it more as a diet aid, but now I see it as part of my daily beauty regime.

- Sometimes, you NEED that dress – I’m a big believer that sometimes a girl needs to buy something that will make her feel fabulous.  I used to buy things that I ‘should have worn’ in varying shades of black, it made me blend into the crowd so that I was free from being mocked.  Now, I buy vibrant colours and lacy dresses which feel great on my skin and I feel like a goddess in.... even if I’m wearing it in my house!

- Splish Splash! – Taking a couple of hours each week to emmerse myself into a hot bath of sweet smelling bubbles lets me escape the outside world and worries. I love my baths, they’re my private place where I don’t have to answer to anyone and I get time to pamper myself.  I love to have mine with lots of candles, my tablet, some music and a bottle of wine. 
It gives me time to relax and de-stress!

5) O que desejas para o futuro? What do you wish for the future?

Aprendi há algum tempo a não planer o futuro: as coisas acontecem frequentemente sem estarem no nosso controlo ou compreensão. Perguntam-me sempre "Onde é que te vês daqui a 5 anos?" e a minha resposta é sempre - feliz, saudável e à procura da minha próxima aventura.

Já agora, gostava de ter um armário bem maior!

I learnt a long time ago not to plan for the future; things can often happen that are sometimes beyond our control and understanding. I always get asked in interviews ‘Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?’ and my answer is always this – happy, healthy and looking forward to my next adventure.
In the short run though, I wish for a much bigger wardrobe!

Decidi começar o blogue para dar a minha visão sobre moda quando comecei a ver blogues mas não encontrei nenhum do meu tamanho.

I decided to write my blog to give my vision of fashion when I started seeing blogs but I couldn´t find any in my size.

2) O mundo da moda plus size está desenvolvido no teu país? Is the plus size fashion world development in your country?

Não o suficiente, penso que precisamos de mais lojas e de preços mais baratos. E os designers precisam de melhorar e renovar.

Not enough, i think that we need more stores, cheaper prices. And designers needs improve and renew.

3) Quais são os teus looks e estilos favoritos? What is favorite style and look?

Penso que o meu estilo é elegante, feminino, clássico e bonito. Prefiro usar vestidos ou saias. Adoro blusas e blazers.

I think that my style is elegant, feminine, classic, pretty. I prefer wearing dresses or skirts. I love blouses and blazers.

4) Quais são os teus cinco factores-chave para andar sempre bem? What your five key factors to always look good?
- O mais importante é usar sempre o tamanho correto.
- Ser verdadeira com o estilo pessoal.
- Escolher roupas que definam a nossa personalidade.
- Não usar leggings como calças.
- Os acessórios são muito importantes nos looks, escolham bem.

-The most important key is always wear in your correct size.
- Be true to your style.
- Choose clothing that defines your personality.
- Not wear leggins like pants.
- Accessories are very important in your look, choose well.

5) O que desejas para o futuro? What do you wish for the future?

Espero encontrar um trabalho relacionado com o mundo da moda. Adoro escrever no meu blogue, contactar com os meus seguidores e leitores. Tenho um pequeno projeto como designer, gostaria de abrir uma loja online de roupa e acessórios feitos à mão.

I wish find a job related to the fashion world. I really love writting on my blog, have contact with my followers and readers. And I have a little project as a designer, I would like to open an online store of clothing and accessories handmade.

Comecei o GirlWithCurves.com em Fevereiro de 2011 como uma parte criativa fora do meu trabalho regular.

I started GirlWithCurves.com in February 2011 as a creative outlet outside my fulltime job.

Nos EUA, o mundo plus size está tornar-se cada vez mais notado, especialmente como a emergência dos bloggers como icons de estilo.

 

In the US, the plus size fashion scene is becoming more and more noticed, especially with the emergence of bloggers as style icons. 

3) Quais são os teus looks e estilos favoritos? What is favorite style and look?

Adoro o glamour de inspiração vintage. Silhuetas dos anos 40 que acentuam as curvas são as que favorecem mais qualquer mulher.

I love vintage-inspired glam. Silhouettes from the 40's that accentuate curves are the most flattering on all women.

4) Quais são os teus cinco factores-chave para andar sempre bem? What your five key factors to always look good?

Confiança é a chave, juntamente com roupas com um bom corte!

Confidence is key, along with great fitting clothes!

5) O que desejas para o futuro? What do you wish for the future?

Gostaria que um dia os media vissem que todas as mulheres, independentemente do tamanho, são lindas e que as mulheres se aceitem em qualquer tamanho.

I wish that one day the media will see all women of all sizes as beautiful and that women themselves will grow to accept themselves at any size.

1) Quando e porquê que começaste o blogue? When and why did you start to blog?

Comecei o blogue porque adoro escrever e queria ter um sítio onde pudesse dizer o que penso e partilhar parte de mim. Os posts sobre moda plus size surgiram mais tarde quando descobri um enorme número de bloggers através do twitter e que me inspiraram a mostrar, também, essa parte de mim.

I started to blog because I love to write and I wanted a place to say what I thought and share a part of myself. The plus size clothing posts came later when I discovered the #psbloggers community via Twitter and was inspired to share this side of me too.

 

2) O mundo da moda plus size está desenvolvido no teu país? Is the plus size fashion world development in your country?

Nestes últimos anos a moda plus size no Reino Unido tem sofrido um grande desenvolvimento com mais marcas a aperceberem-se que, podes ser plus size mas isso não significa que não gostes de moda e não a queiras usar. Pessoalmente, adoro as parcerias que actualmente existem entre bloggers e a Evans e SimplyBe.

In the past few years plus size fashion in the UK has come along in leaps and bounds with many more brands cottoning on to the fact that because you are plus size, doesn't mean that you don't love fashion and want to wear it.  I particularly love the brand/blogger collaborations that are happening at the moment with Evans and SimplyBe.

3) Quais são os teus looks e estilos favoritos? What is favorite style and look?

O meu estilo pessoal ainda está a evoluir mas as peças que mais adoro vestir são vestidos pois creio que ficam melhor com o meu tipo de corpo do que calças ou saias. Apesar de ser grande fã de vestidos traçados, estou a tentar experimentar outros looks e estilos. Nunca se sabe até experimentares!

My style is still evolving but in the main I love to wear dresses as I feel that they look better on my body than trousers or a skirt.  Although I am a huge fan of the wrap dress I am also open to trying new looks and styles.  You never really know until you try it on!

4) Quais são os teus cinco factores-chave para andar sempre bem? What your five key factors to always look good?

Se tiveres confiança irás estar sempre bem. É um facto. Quando uma pessoa é feliz e confiante isso transparece nos olhos e é verdadeiramente muito bonito. Não oiçam ao que a sociedade vos diz que devem vestir, façam as vossas próprias regras, que se adequem a vocês e a mais ninguém.

If you have confidence, you will always look good. Fact. When someone is happy and confident it shines right through their eyes and it is truly beautiful. Don't listen to what society tells you to wear, make up your own rules, to suit you, not everyone else.

5) O que desejas para o futuro? What do you wish for the future?

Espero continuar esta jornada de aumentar a minha confiança desde que comecei o blogue mas também inspirar os outros a ter confiança também. Comecei esta minha luta ao ler blogues plus size e sei que não seria a pessoa que sou hoje sem a sua inspiração, coragem em mostrar ao público e amizade para com uma nova blogger.

I hope to continue in the confidence journey I started on my blog but also to inspire others to have confidence too.  I started my quest for confidence by reading plus size fashion blogs and I know that I would not be the person I am today without their inspiration, their courage in putting themselves out there and their friendliness to a new blogger.

1) Quando e porquê que começaste o blogue? When and why did you start to blog?

Comecei o blogue em Fevereiro de 2013 mas tinha outro blogue chamado Testy Brunette. Sempre gostei de ler blogues plus size e beleza e por isso decidi começar o mesmo.

I started Polished Curves in February 2013, but I used to run another blog called Testy Brunette. I enjoyed reading PS blogs and beauty blogs so much I decided to start my own blog.

 

 

2) O mundo da moda plus size está desenvolvido no teu país? Is the plus size fashion world development in your country?

Penso que a moda plus size está a melhor no Reino Unido, as marcas estão a começar a aperceber-se que temos tanto dinheiro para gastar como as mulheres "regulares", e adoramos a moda do mesmo modo.

I think Plus Size fashion is getting better in the UK, companies are starting to realise that we have just as much money to spend on fashion as ‘straight’ sized women, and we love fashion just as much too.

3) Quais são os teus looks e estilos favoritos? What is favorite style and look?

Creio que isso depende da altura do ano, durante o Outuno/Inverno adoro usar calções e saias com collants opacos, na Primavera/Verão adoro usar vestidos compridos e saias.

I think this would depend on the time of year, during autumn/winter I love wearing short and skirts with thick tights, and during the spring/summer I love to wear maxi dresses and skirts.

4) Quais são os teus cinco factores-chave para andar sempre bem? What your five key factors to always look good?

Os factores-chave para mim para estar sempre bem são: usar apenas aquilo em que me sinto confortável, ser confiante, andar direita, sorrir e disfrutar a vida! se conseguirmos fazer tudo isto iremos brilhar independentemente do que vestimos!

Key factors for me to always look good are, only wear something you are comfortable in, be confident and walk tall, smile, and enjoy life! If you can do all of that you’ll look good whatever you’re wearing!

5) O que desejas para o futuro? What do you wish for the future?

Para o futuro desejo uma vida saudável e feliz e que continue a gostar de escrever no blogue!

For the future I wish for a healthy happy life and to continue enjoying blogging!
